Surprise, we won’t have to wait for the Unpacked event on August 5th. Samsung is already formalizing the 5G version of its Galaxy Z Flip smartphone with a vertically foldable screen thanks to its clamshell format.
In a matte glass finish and two new so-called Mystic Gray and Mystic Bronze colors, the Galaxy Z Flip 5G will be available from August 7 at € 1,559, which makes it a more expensive proposition of nearly sixty euros compared to the Galaxy Z Flip introduced in February.
In comparison to the latter, the 5G version is almost identical, except for the 5G connectivity with the presence of the new SoC Snapdragon 865+ from Qualcomm and its Snapdragon X55 modem which accompanies it by being mandatory, but still not integrated into the chip.
Flex mode is guaranteed to operate from 75 to 115°. When the device is folded, the display splits into two 4 inch screens, so you can view content on the top half of the screen and control on the bottom half. It’s a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a definition of 2636 x 1080 pixels, while a second 1.06-inch AMOLED display is on the outer side.
Samsung highlights optimizations for multitasking, as well as for Flex mode with YouTube and a double-tap feature on the control part of the screen. It allows you to switch between the two types of display on the screen.
