Microsoft has resolved an issue in the Outlook 365 desktop app. Due to a bug, the email application crashed immediately after starting. Many users reported this on social media. Outlook web version and mobile apps were not affected.
Microsoft reports on Twitter that the update has now been fully rolled out. The company does state that users may need to ‘restart the Outlook client’. A recent update was “probably” the cause, according to the sources. The company reports that the issues were not related to the recently rolled out Patch Tuesday updates.
The problem arose for many users on Wednesday, Microsoft reports. The Outlook desktop application crashed right after launching. The Windows Event Viewer then
0xc0000005showed the error code. In the Microsoft 365 admin center, the company reported that this issue “could potentially affect all users attempting to use Outlook,” according to the sources.
