The HP tablet TouchPad with WebOS was presented a few days before the MWC 2011, to anticipate the sudden rapid flow of Android tablet shown and announced at the Barcelona Fair. Attending the event Catalan, HP has revealed a user interface and an operating system rewarding responsive and agile, which is a good alternative to Android. According to some sources in Asia from Taiwan, the launch of HP TouchPad is planned for the month of April 2011 after the first deliveries in late March.
According to the internal objectives of the company, HP plans to dispose of 4-5 million TouchPad tablet later this year. HP TouchPad has many features similar to the iPad tablet, in particular, integrates a 10-inch screen with 1024 x 768 pixels in 4:3 format, while most of the bets on Android tablet 16:10 format. These similarities could drive further sales of the tablet, HP helping in the capture of significant market share.
During the same period (late April), including Research in Motion (RIM) could launch its Tablet Playbook, putting himself in direct competition with HP TouchPad. The American company will focus on the possibility to interact with other HP terminals, smartphones and Tablet PCs, thanks to features offered by WebOS. We stress however that the timing of the launch of TouchPad should overlap with the one chosen for many tablet Android, making it more fierce competition.
