Asus has just made the official presentations with its third generation ROG Phone 3 gaming smartphone. As expected, it integrates the Snapdragon 865+ SoC with 5G connectivity. It competes in another register with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 5G.
Qualcomm’s most powerful chip is paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. ROG Phone 3 displays on a 6.59-inch AMOLED FHD + (2340 x 1080 pixels) display with 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. It supports HDR10 + technology.
With dimensions of 171 x 78 x 9.85 mm and a weight of 240 g, the smartphone has a 6000 mAh battery which has several programmable and customizable charging modes. Otherwise, the fast charge is 30 W. The USB-C port has the originality of being placed on the side of the device.
The 5G connectivity is complemented by a Wi-Fi 6 module. Asus boasts a technology allowing the user to connect simultaneously to Wi-Fi and on a mobile data. The connection is actually redirected to the best signal available.
Third-generation AirTrigger triggers include a motion sensor in addition to ultrasonic touch sensors, and X-Mode software now allows more system settings to be configured.
ROG Phone 3 has two stereo speakers placed on the top and bottom of the device. It is a 24-megapixel photo sensor on the front and a triple photo sensor on the rear with 64-megapixel main module, 13-megapixel 125° ultra-wide angle and 5-megapixel macro.
Asus has provided a whole set of accessories with the ROG Kunai 3 Gamepad to attach two game controllers, a ROG Lighting Armor Case for a luminous change of look, the ROG Clip to attach the smartphone to a console controller, the TwinView Dock 3 for a second 144 Hz screen.
Asus ROG Phone 3 will be available from tomorrow on a pre-order for 999 € (i.e for 12 GB RAM / 512 GB storage configuration) and 1,099 € (for 16 GB of RAM / 512 GB of storage).
