Toshiba has announced the addition of the Thrive 7-inch tablet to its expanding line-up of consumer tablet devices, which will be available in December for ‘under $400′. Featuring a brilliant hi-resolution seven-inch diagonal touch display1, the Thrive 7-inch tablet offers a complete tablet experience with entertainment-optimized features in an incredibly portable design that weighs under a pound2 and fits comfortably in the palm of your hand.
The 7 inch display on the tablet has a Super Plus AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. The device features the Android operating system 3.2 and a Honeycomb Tegra 2 dual-core processor from NVIDIA. Furthermore, the device has a 1GB of RAM and the tablet also includes two HD cameras: a five megapixel camera with an LED flash on the back for capturing high-quality pictures and video on the go, plus a two megapixel camera on the front for video chatting. Finally, the device has WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, micro-HMDI, micro-USB and micro-SD card reader. Toshiba gives consumers a choice of 16GB or 32GB internal memory.
There will be two models released in December, each with varying storage capacities: 16GB and 32GB. The price tag for the 16GB version will be around $ 400 (about 280 euros). The Thrive 7-inch Tablet will be available in December at major U.S. retailers, e-tailers and ToshibaDirect.com.
