HTC has officially announced a new addition to its smartphone range announced in the shape of the HTC Explorer. This new smartphone is similar to the HTC Wildfire S and can be seen as a budget-smatphone.
HTC Explorer is a small compact device with a screen size of 3.2 inches (HVGA) with a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels. The Explorer has a 600 MHz processor along with a 3 megapixel camera on the back of the unit.
In addition, the Explorer has an internal memory of 512MB storage space on board. The HTC Explorer should become available in Q4 this year with planned launches in key markets in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. Though there has been no official announcement on the price of the device, but it has to be under $300.
The Explorer is available in three different colors which includes Metallic Black, Active Black and Metallic Navy. Moreover, customers will be able to buy optional back covers in the following colors: Metallic White, Metallic Blue, Metallic Purple and Metallic Orange.
The Explorer is HTC’s new asset in the battle for new market share to acquire in the economy segment of the Android market. Besides Wildfire S and later introduces the HTC now see a new Explorer to a broad audience to attract. The Explorer has a bit more rugged appearance than the Wildfire S by a matte black coating with brushed steel.
