Following in the footsteps of Google, the Chinese search engine Baidu plans to create a platform almost instantly activated and constituting a universal gateway for Internet research.
The search engine Baidu does not hesitate to follow the evolution of its American cousin Google and its future strategy could involve the development of an operating system or at least a lightweight platform that could be accommodated on smartphones, tablets and other devices.
It would in fact create a “search box” combining search engine and browser, and accessible immediately upon startup of the mobile device. “Currently, when you boot your iPhone, you must wait 45 seconds before you can begin to manipulate it. In the future, in a second, you start the terminal and can use the box. It is our ambition for the future the Internet”, said Robin Li, Baidu’s CEO, the Financial Times.
